We are currently looking for a:

„Director International Financial Institutions (m/f)“

This position reports directly to the Managing Director of Dornier Consulting International and is a member of the DCI’s Management Board

Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Director International Financial Institutions :

  • The Director International Financial Institutions is responsible for the successful acquisition (key account management) vis-à-vis:
    • European investment institutions KfW, EU, EBRD and EIB (prime focus)
    • Worldbank and Asian Development Bank (secondary focus)
  • He/she builds and develops (sustainable) partnerships with organizations with complementary skills to acquire business within the scope of responsibility
  • Over a time period of 2 years, he establishes the functional BL “Management Consulting” with a focus on project management capabilities (“generalists”), and manages this BL as per head of Business Line with standalone P&L

Core activities / responsibilities

Activities related to Key Account Management

  • Regarding short-term DCI business focus:
  • Positioning of DCI in the course of project extensions in running projects
  • Lobbying in the frame of new tenders relevant to DCI business
  • Acquisition of ad hoc inhouse consulting assignments (direct order / studies / expert assessments)
  • Investigation of relevant background information related to contract award procedures
  • Corporate Intelligence within IFIs as well as target countries, e.g. awareness of relevant project pipeline
  • Regarding mid-term DCI business focus:
  • Timely identification of new, emerging investment programs
  • Fathoming of concrete project opportunities for DCI
  • Support regarding proposal creation, quality assurance and process handling
  • Regarding long-term DCI business focus:
  • Positioning of DCI as a known, trustworthy expert consultant resp. program coordinator within IFIs
  • Shaping of future IFI investment programs with focus on delivery strengths of DCI portfolio
  • Primary focus are DCI business segments Water & Environment, Transportation & Traffic, Airports and Energy and other segments as per opportunities

Activities related to setup of functional Business Line “Management Consulting”:

  • Over time, establish general program management expert line with dedicated team within DCI
  • Core focus is delivery of PMO capabilities directly to IFIs and large institutions
  • Establish & internally roll-out required methods & tools for professional PMO
  • Identification of suitable ad-hoc or long term partners to acquire business and establishment of adequate partnerships

 Core KPI to measure success

  • Order Intake,
  • Number of consultants (generalists),
  • Utilization,
  • Increase of fee of daily blended rate of acquired projects from core accounts,
  • Business Line P&L

Required skills

  • Ability to build trusting relationships and represent DCI external organizations – governments, international and public financial institutions, policy bodies, NGOs, think tanks, business based trade associations
  • Relevant experience, preferably in consulting, international business and working with government affairs / public financial institutions
  • Strategic and flexible thinking – ability to translate insights into sound analysis and advice for the business
  • Good external awareness of governmental, development and public financial institutions policy issues and client demands
  • Effective, flexible approach to team working as well as ability to work across cultures and lead / work with teams of geographically dispersed people
  • Integrity, commitment and thorough understanding of anti-bribery regulations
  • Good grasp of politics / current affairs
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, including listening skills

Required minimum qualifications

  • >7 years of professional experience, preferentially in connection with public organizations and / or PPP frames
  • Experience and established network in IFI environment
  • Consulting or Sales / key account management background
  • Fluent in German, English, French (optional)
